Dodoma, Tanzania, July 25, 2024 - The Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network (TECDEN) held its 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM) with 45 Regular members, 5 Strategic members, and government representatives in attendance. The agenda included member introductions, approval of the 2023 AGM summary, the Chairman's report, acknowledgment of outgoing board members, and the election of new board members.
The AGM began with the approval of the previous year's minutes and discussions on progress, including successful fundraising campaigns, increased membership engagement, and new ECD initiatives. The Chairperson's report highlighted achievements in program implementation, strengthened partnerships, and capacity-building efforts.
Key agenda items included the election of three new board members: Ms. Pauline Alex (Executive Director, New Light Children Centre Organization), Mr. Fadhili Mtanga (Executive Director, Health and Insurance Management Services Organization), and Ms. Elizabeth Maginga Thobias (Executive Director, We Care Foundation). They join continuing board members Charles Fungo (ECD Technical Manager, Catholic Relief Services), Felistas Kalomo (Executive Director, Childhood Development Organization), Patrice Gwasma (Executive Director, Community Support Initiatives Tanzania), and Onesmo Olegurumo (Chief Executive Officer, Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition).
The newly elected board members expressed their commitment to driving the Strategic Plan 2024-2028 forward and ensuring TECDEN's continued impact on early childhood development in Tanzania. The AGM reaffirmed TECDEN's commitment to advancing early childhood development in Tanzania, setting a strategic direction for the future with a renewed focus on key initiatives.
