The CARE Initiative is a multisectoral, multi-donor collaborative focused on expanding access
to high-quality, equitable, affordable, and inclusive childcare services. The initiative
supports and catalyzes locally coordinated advocacy to influence national-level policies and
investment decisions that strengthen childcare systems.

Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network (TECDEN)
Oxford Policy Management
Conservation, Hotels, Domestic, Social Services, and Consultancy Workers Union (CHODAWU)

Approach

The CARE Initiative supports multisectoral consortia of in-country partners to build bridges
across movements, fostering collaboration among civil society, research institutions, and
workers’ organizations to drive sustainable childcare systems reform.

Implementation in Tanzania

Through an open Request for Proposals (RFP) process, selected partners are working together
to plan and implement coordinated advocacy efforts to strengthen childcare systems
implemented by Tanzania.
