Investing in the early years is the most powerful strategy for achieving sustainable development in Tanzania. To ensure that our efforts are truly inclusive, the Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network (TECDEN), with the generous support of Echidna Giving, facilitated a comprehensive 3-day capacity-building workshop from June 16 to 18, 2026, for 35 of our member organizations. This initiative was specifically designed to address identified gender gaps and equip our members with the specialized tools necessary to ensure that our collective work in Early Childhood Development (ECD) reaches every child equitably.
The workshop curriculum focused on three foundational pillars to drive systemic change. First, we emphasized Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI) by adopting an intersectional approach to dismantle barriers to participation, ensuring no child is left behind. Second, we grounded our work in the Science of Early Childhood Development (SECD), utilizing the latest evidence-based insights to inform both our service delivery and national advocacy efforts. Finally, we strengthened our commitment to Child Safeguarding, reinforcing rigorous protocols to guarantee that every environment remains secure, protective, and nurturing for the children we serve.
