Tanzania Early Childhood Development Network's (TECDEN) participation in the Kenya's 6th National ECD Stakeholders’ Conference.
Date: 15th–17th July 2025 at Palm Oasis Resort, Garissa County- Kenya.
TECDEN participated in the 6th Kenya's National Early Childhood Development (ECD) Stakeholders’ Conference through our Executive Director, Ms. Mwajuma Kibwana, held in Garissa County, Kenya. The conference was organized by the Government through the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Council of Governors, FCDC, and the County Government of Garissa, in collaboration with the ECD Network for Kenya.
This year’s conference was held under the timely and forward-looking theme:
“Promoting Transformative Systemic Change in a Child’s Ecosystem.”
The event brought together policymakers, civil society organizations, technical experts, funders, and practitioners from Kenya and beyond to explore innovative, inclusive, and climate-resilient solutions for strengthening ECD systems.
What TECDEN’s Participation Signifies for Tanzania and the Region
TECDEN’s participation in this important regional dialogue highlights the increasing need for cross-border collaboration, policy learning, and strategic investment in ECD across Eastern Africa. It also reflects TECDEN’s leadership in:
Promoting South-South collaboration: By engaging with counterparts from Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, and other countries, TECDEN is contributing to the exchange of ideas, strategies, and good practices to strengthen ECD systems regionally.
Accelerating systems change in Tanzania: Lessons learned from the conference can enrich Tanzania’s implementation of the National Multi-sectoral Early Childhood Development Programme (NMECDP 2021/22–2025/26).
Amplifying advocacy for increased ECD investment: Through shared platforms like this, TECDEN continues to raise the profile of early childhood development as a national and regional priority.
Building resilient and inclusive ECD ecosystems: The theme of the conference aligns with TECDEN’s commitment to support integrated and sustainable ECD approaches responsive to children’s needs in the face of climate change and other emerging challenges.
Looking Ahead
As TECDEN continues to work with the Government of Tanzania and ECD stakeholders, participation in such regional platforms reaffirms our belief that every child deserves a strong start—regardless of geography.
We extend our gratitude to the organizers and partners of the 6th National ECD Stakeholders’ Conference for providing this opportunity to share, learn, and grow together as a region.
