Coordination of Non-State ECD Stakeholders

Strengthening the coordination of ECD issues from national to regional and local levels using members and RCUs through building capacity and providing sub-grants when needs arise for implementing ECD issues. The coordination of Early Childhood Development (ECD) stakeholders to support the provision of the Nurturing Care Framework is crucial for ensuring that young children receive the holistic care and support they need during their early years. The Nurturing Care Framework, developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, provides a comprehensive approach to promoting the well-being and development of children from birth to age 8. 

Currently, Tanzania is implementing National Multi-Sectoral Early Childhood Development Programme 2021/22-2025/25 that directly invests in Tanzania’s human development capital through accelerating early childhood development gains by enhancing the Multi-Sectoral approach to young children’s nurturing care, considering the five components of: Good health of a child and caregiver; Adequate nutrition from pregnancy; Responsive caregiving; Opportunities for early learning; and the Security and Safety of our children. What we do.

• Establish a Multi-Sectoral ECD stakeholders’ group and National Technical Committee: Create a Multi-Sectoral working groups that includes representatives from government agencies, non-governmental organizations, health sectors, education sectors, social welfare agencies, and other relevant stakeholders. This task force can serve as a central coordinating body.
• Mapping and Engagement of Stakeholders: Identify and engage all relevant stakeholders, including government ministries, local authorities, community-based organizations, healthcare providers, educators, parents, and caregivers. Encourage their active participation in the ECD initiatives.
• Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze data on the needs and challenges of the target population, as well as the existing resources and services available. This data can inform the development of evidence-based strategies.
• Resource Mobilization: Work together to identify and mobilize the necessary resources, including funding, expertise, and infrastructure, to support the Nurturing Care Framework's implementation.
• Policy Alignment: Ensure that existing policies, regulations, and legislation are aligned with the Nurturing Care Framework's principles and goals. Advocate for policy changes when necessary.
• Capacity Building: Provide training and capacity-building opportunities for professionals, caregivers, and community leaders to ensure they have the knowledge and skills required to provide nurturing care.
• Partnerships and Collaboration: Foster collaboration and partnerships with local and international organizations, donors, and agencies that have an interest in supporting ECD and the Nurturing Care Framework.

Effective coordination of ECD stakeholders to support the Nurturing Care Framework is essential for creating a holistic, supportive environment for young children's early development. It involves collaborative efforts across sectors and the active involvement of communities to ensure that every child can thrive during their critical early years.
