On June 21, 2024 a pivotal meeting took place in the Kigoma region, bringing together the Tanzania Early Childhood Development (ECD) Network, various ECD stakeholders, and the regional committee on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence against Children (VAC). This gathering was aimed at reviewing and enhancing the implementation of ECD initiatives, particularly in contexts of humanitarian need, such as the Nyarugusu and Nduta camps, as well as within host communities and across all eight district councils: Uvinza DC, Kigoma Ujiji MC, Kigoma DC, Kakonko DC, Kibondo, Kasulu TC, Kasulu DC, and Buhigwe DC.

➡ Adequate Nutrition: Enhanced nutritional programs ensuring children’s growth.
➡ Safety & Security: Safer environments for every child.
➡ Responsive Caregiving: Strengthened caregiver support.
➡ Learning Opportunities: Expanded access to early learning.
The meeting in Kigoma marked a significant step towards strengthening Early Childhood Development initiatives in Tanzania. By addressing these five critical areas, stakeholders aim to create a more supportive and nurturing environment for every child, particularly those in vulnerable situations. The collaborative efforts of the Tanzania ECD Network and other stakeholders are essential for the holistic development of children and for building a brighter future for the next generation.

Tanzania ECD Network continues to collaborate with the government and ECD stakeholders to advocate for early childhood investment for all children aged 0 to 8 year. By working together, sharing resources, and implementing strategic programs, Tanzania is making significant strides in ensuring that every child can thrive and reach their full potential.
