Tanzania ECD Network Joins Regional ECD Forum to Strengthen Early Childhood Development Across East Africa
Tanzania ECD Network is excited to join delegates from across East Africa at the regional Early Childhood Development (ECD) forum, taking place from 6–8 May 2025. The event focuses on strengthening ECD practices and policies across the region, with countries represented including Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Somalia, South Sudan, Burundi, DRC, and Rwanda. Key partners such as The African Early Childhood Network (AfECN), UNICEF Tanzania, and Government Ministries are also actively involved in this vital conversation.
The forum is organized by The African Early Childhood Network (AfECN) in collaboration with the East African Community (EAC) Secretariat. It marks the first meeting of the Technical Working Group (TWG), which aims to harmonize guidelines, validate priorities, and advance a regional ECD policy.
TECDEN's Executive Director, Mwajuma Kibwana, participated in a panel discussion alongside Early Childhood Development Network For Kenya (ECDNeK), Uganda, and others. The panel shared valuable insights and experiences on childcare initiatives, including the role of childcare in national policies and key lessons from the Childcare Dialogue Campaign.
This forum underscores the importance of regional collaboration in advancing Early Childhood Development, ensuring that children across East Africa receive the care and education they deserve.
